Graphic Design 2.1: Professional Practice, Project 6: Tutor Feedback and Reflection
You have shown plenty of alternative layouts for Crime and Punishment. With the solution you have selected you have gone for the half and half idea but shown the whole of the scales. You could test this concept with a closer crop of the scales that still retains the sense of balance. This might make the final design a bit more dynamic/intriguing. I am thinking that the crop of image row 4 image 5 might work well.
I have now also added a clearer version of this design here
That was a good decision to focus on a book that you wouldn’t normally read. As usual you have undertaken very thorough research before starting the designs. This, along with looking at previous winners’ work, has really stood you in good stead to start the project. Your design process is extensive and you have tested alternative ideas. Your written explanation really helps to express the depth of your ideas and their relevance to the book’s content. You have started to explore the scale of the elements within your final design. I would continue to do this and perhaps remove some of the elements so that you then have more space to play with. Perhaps remove the puzzle pieces as they are a bit more obvious. Currently all the text is in capitals so I would also explore using some lower case in some areas.
Looking back there are various areas I would like to improve. I have experimented here with removing some elements/adjusting text.
