Graphic Design 2.1: Professional Practice, Project 1: Tutor Feedback and Reflection

You have undertaken a substantial amount of relevant visual research in Ex1. This has clearly fed into your design outcomes. The PlayStation timeline is effective at summarising the main changes.

When presenting the mood boards and other found research (across all projects) it would be good to get into the habit of fully Harvard Referencing the information. If you are not sure how to do this then you can log in to the OU library and view the information here: Cite Them Right

  • From E3 onwards I have now gotten to grips with Harvard Referencing and anything submitted for assessment will be properly referenced.

It's interesting that you have used Midjourney/AI to generate some of the work. You have written about this but do make sure it is clear which images these are. Your design process for Ex1 is very thorough and you have appropriately analysed your final design.

  • I have recently found integrating AI where appropriate to generate images as a fun idea, which also utilises AI in an ethical way, I have now clearly referenced all uses of AI imagery.

With Ex2 you have demonstrated a more experimental approach especially with the scanner experiments. These are very good to see. Try and maintain this more experimental design process across subsequent briefs.

With Ass1 you have continued to show a very thorough design process. You have come up with a solution that uses colour effectively and is playful with the positioning of shapes and the larger type elements. With the DENTITY logo I would suggest playing around with the colour of ENTITY and the positioning of the D. At the moment the dominance of the black ENTITY is making it move away from the D. This means we are, in effect, reading it as D ENTITY.

  • With this being one of my first main branding projects I struggled a lot and looking back there is a lot to improve on. The D ENTITY choice of my design looks completely disjointed and definitely reads as separate elements. I look forward to improving my branding skills with future tasks.
